ANDOVER — The Pymatuning Valley football schedule is in a bit of flux after St. John announced on Wednesday it is playing as an 8-man team this season.

The Lakers and Heralds were orginally scheduled to play in Week 6 — at 6 p.m. Oct. 5 at Spire — this season.

"It's still up in the air," PV Athletic Director Mel Nowakowski said. "We don't want to play 8 on 8. Another option is taking a bye."

When the Heralds decided to go an 8-man team, they offered each opponent on the original schedule the chance to still play, but as an 8-man game.

Mathews, in Week 1, and Chalker, in Week 10, decided to continue to play St. John.

Nowakowski posted to the Website to Ohio and parts of Western Pennsylvania PV's need for a game. She added the Lakers have six home games already scheduled, so PV would be able to travel.

Nowakowski has no hard feelings toward St. John.

"Our enrollment is down," she said. "We'll try to make a decision as quick as possible. There's not much else we can do."
