ANDOVER — Cardinal scored 20 first-quarter points and went on to defeat Pymatuning Valley 34-14 in a non-conference football game Friday night.
The Huskies (1-1) extended their to 28-0 at halftime and led 28-0 in the third quarter before the Lakers finally cracked the scoreboard.
Tyler Bean tallied PV's first touchdown on a 5-yard run, cutting the deficit to 28-6 after a no good 2-point conversion.
Cardinal responded with a TD of its own and pushed the advantage to 34-6 after three quarters.
PV scored in the fourth quarter when Bean found Dillen Knowles on a 40-yard play. Bean found Logan Giddings for the 2-point conversion.
The Lakers (0-2) will look for their first win Friday, hosting Champion.
Holgate 44, St. John 0
HOLGATE — Holgate rolled up 280 yards rushing during a win in an 8-man game.
The hosts had five rushing TDs, including runs of 78, 77 and 60 yards.
The Tigers jumped out to a 30-0 first-quarter lead.
For the Heralds (0-2), Seth Thomas completed 7 of 14 passes for 58 yards. Dylan Carpenter caught two for 34 yards and Caleb Hill posted five for 24.
Hill also rushed for 54 yards.
St. John is scheduled to hosts Fairport Sept. 13 at Spire.
