Edgewood graduate Katon named PAC Rookie of the Week at Thiel

GREENVILLE, Pa. — Alec Katon has started his Thiel College baseball career in fine style.

The freshman was named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Rookie of the Week for the week of March 22-28.

Katon, an Edgewood graduate, was credited with his first win as a Tomcat in Thiel’s 12-8 victory over Franciscan in extra innings.

He was called on in the

bottom of the seventh inning with a runner on first and one out.

Katon ended the threat and pitched four more scoreless innings to earn the win.

His final stats in the game were 4.2 innings pitched, three hits, no runs, two walks, and three strikeouts.

So far on the season, Katon has pitched 10.1 innings.

He has allowed four earned runs on eight hits with eight walks and seven strikeouts.

Katon helped the Warriors reach the Division III regional tournament in 2019.
