The first event of “The Charity Faith Love Project”, held Saturday, Feb. 20, was a beautiful success; THANKS BE TO GOD! From noon until 2 p.m., volunteers handed out boxes filled with non-perishables, meats, dairy, toiletries, and household cleaning products to each Ashtabula City family who drove through People’s Baptist Church parking lot.

The goal was to give 250 families three boxes each. Remaining boxes were gifted to Beatitude House, Feed our Vets and Healthy Boundaries transitional house. The project started when I asked God to use me to help with the struggle of so many Ward 3 residents to purchase basic household provisions due to the financial hardship the COVID-19 pandemic has placed on them.

When God laid this project on my heart I hit the ground running. The mere mention of the project brought donors, volunteers, organizations, and community members from near and far, to lend a hand. Help came in the form of prayers and moral support; creation of the official project name; flier design; suggestions as to which items would have the most impact; donation solicitation; 500 new boxes [Northeast Box]; goods to fill the boxes; storage; transportation of goods; drafting letter each recipient received; project site; planning, organizing, distribution, money; and traffic control.

Shortly after the event concluded emails and calls came flooding in from provision recipients. Each one thankful and grateful; some emotional. I was also encouraged to continue doing what we know we should do… Jesus said “Inasmuch as you have done it (fed, clothed, taken in), to the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me.” [Matthew 25:40]

OH, the smiles, the waves, the thank yous, the calls, the tears, and all the help is etched in my heart forever – ALL GLORY TO GOD; AMEN!
