As Professor Emeritus of English at Kent State University Ashtabula Campus, I am writing to say how much I admire Shelley Terry’s recent articles about the May 4 shootings on the Kent State Campus on May 4, 1970. This is a difficult subject, with many strands and political implications. It’s not just that the writing is excellent in itself, but also it is so finely balanced and illustrative, with so many sources and perspectives.
This is a tribute to your fine newspaper, which I read daily with pleasure. It would be excellent if the Star Beacon could receive an award for this series. I know nothing about how this could be done, but I would be happy to write a letter of support as a member of the reading public.
Keep up the good work!
