The Equality Act or bill has been part of Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic Party’s agenda since March 2019. God-fearing members of Congress and President Trump have kept it from becoming law. Now it is before the the Senate again. Gay and transgender are personal choices individuals make as compared to being born African American or male or female. The 1964 Civil Rights Act was rightfully passed to prohibit discrimination in publice spaces and service because of color or sex. One can’t choose their sex at birth, nor the color of their skin. God does that! (Gen. 1:27).
This law would be an insidious threat to faith-based schools, which have always been a part of America’s diverse higher education system. It would force them to sacrifice their religious convictions in order to be eligible for federal aid money. Sounds like blackmail to me.
Rep. David Cicilline (D-Rhode Island), who introduced rthe bill, made this statement: “Conservative opposition will use religious freedom as a defense against the bill. They’ll make outrageous claims because they know they can only succeed by scaring the American people. We cannot allow people to use religious freedom as a basis to discriminate against an LGBT individual.”
Religious freedom is the foundation of our American culture, and what keeps America great. Psalm 33:12 says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord ...”
What am most concerned about as a 77-year-old Christian is the affect such legislation, if passed, will have on the coming generations. The lack of God-fearing elected officials, who have exchanged the truth of what God says about such legislation for a lie, (Rom. 1:25) should be a concern to every parent and guardian. God loves everyone, but He will never bless a lifestyle He never ordained. 1 Cor. 6:9-10 couldn’t be more clear!
