Volunteers from the Ashtabula Elks Lodge #208 have been proud to be able to offer free cloth masks to its members and to our community. To date, these volunteers have given away more than 600 masks. Following the lovely article in the April 27th edition of the Star Beacon, the lodge’s phone began ringing off the hook with inquiries as to the next event.
The next mask giveaway is scheduled for Saturday, May 9 from 1 p.m.to 2 p.m. Anyone in need of masks can simply pull into the parking lot for door side service. The lodge is located on Lake Road in Ashtabula, across from Kent State. The masks are no charge, but donations are accepted to help cover costs.
In order to keep up with the anticipated demand, the lodge needs additional volunteers to help sew these masks. The lodge is also in need of elastic, which has been increasingly difficult to obtain. Anyone who wishes to volunteer their sewing skills, or donate elastic or other material, please contact Denise Richards at (440) 813-0778.
Apple-converted-space On behalf of the members of Ashtabula Elks Lodge #208, I would like to thank Denise, along with Rose Dingledine, Rebecca and Scott Anderson, Lois and Ron Fritchen, Linda Fuller, Sue Woodard, Lisa Nazor Strode, Joanne Dixon and Shelly Millick for all their hard work on this project.
