April 26 was a cold damp Sunday in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our son Hans was disappointed that his long-awaited 40th birthday party was canceled. About 2 p.m. we went to our former barn (now Running Horse Farm wedding venue) in case anyone who didn’t realize that the party was canceled showed up.
Imagine his surprise when fire trucks started turning onto the road. When we told him this was for him we thought he would burst with happiness.
Thank you to all the Harpersfield Volunteer firemen who brought all of the township fire trucks and to all the community members, Assumption Church parishioners, friends and family members in a total of 63 cars, fire trucks, a tractor and a semi truck who drove by and greeted Hans. He loved every minute of it and will talk about it forever!
Thank you to all.
And yes, Hans, they all know you!
