JEFFERSON — A Geneva-on-the-Lake man is facing 60 felony counts in connection to accusations he sexually abused a young girl and took graphic videos and photographs of it over a seven-year period.

Brian S. Mabb, 46, of Geneva-on-the-Lake, was indicted by the grand jury Wednesday and arrested by police late Thursday afternoon on the following charges:

• 10 counts of rape, a first-degree felony

• 10 counts of second-degree felony sexual battery

• 10 counts of third-degree felony sexual battery

• 10 counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a third-degree felony

• 10 counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor, a second-degree felony

• 10 counts of pandering sexually-oriented matter involving a minor

The charges stem from Mabb’s "alleged consistent and continuous acts of sexual molestation of a child" while she was between the ages of 9 and 15, taking place from 2009 to 2016.

"This is by far the worst case of child pornography and child sexual molestation I have seen during my tenure," County Prosecutor Nick Iarocci said.

Mabb knew the victim's mother, and the abuse took place every other weekend in Geneva-on-the-Lake during the seven-year time frame, Iarocci said.

The victim, who lives primarily with her father in Lake County, reported the abuse to school officials in January. Lake County Family Services contacted Iarocci's office and Geneva-on-the-Lake police, who investigated and eventually searched Mabb's home. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted in the technical recovery of the videos and photos found on Mabb's various electronic devices, Iarocci said.

At this time, investigators do not believe Mabb was distributing the videos but was only keeping them for himself, he said.

Police attempted to interview Mabb several times after they searched his home but he did not follow through or allow himself to be interviewed, the prosecutor said.

"The video evidence is pretty telling," Iarocci said.

Mabb is currently being held in the Ashtabula County Jail and online court records do not yet list an attorney. Prosecutors will be seeking a life sentence for Mabb, Iarocci said.

What made the case so disturbing, he said, was both the quantity of the material found and the graphic nature of it.

"What he made this child do for his own sexual pleasure was appalling," Iarocci said. "It's the worst thing I've seen in a long time. The way he took advantage of this child. ... It's amazing anybody first off would even video tape this, let alone stockpile this."
