CONNEAUT — A new gas station and truck stop at Route 7 and Interstate 90 is scheduled to open this summer.
Truck World is targeting an early July opening for its Conneaut location, said Erin Burke, president of Truck World Inc.
“We’re in full swing to complete the building and to get open,” Burke said.
The facility has been under construction since last year.
Work on the facility was delayed slightly by the COVID-19 outbreak, but workers are back on site, Burke said.
“We did adhere to all the government issued orders, so some of our construction teams were basically not on site for a few weeks time,” Burke said.
Truck World itself is the first phase. Adding another food offering to the property is phase two of the plan, Burke said. Burke declined to give any specifics about what kind of businesses were going to be added to the lot.
“We’re happy to share when the time is right, but right now, we’re not sharing any information about it,” she said.
For phase three of the project, Truck World is looking to potentially add a hotel, Burke said.
The company purchased 130 acres of land south of Interstate 90 in Conneaut and used earth from the hill south of Underridge Road to bring the site of the gas station level with Route 7.
The city of Conneaut, along with the Conneaut Area City Schools and A-Tech, entered into an agreement with Truck World to help fund a number of improvements that needed to be made to the area, including turing lanes at the entrance to the facility and traffic signals.
Truck World is planning to have a grand opening ceremony at some point, Burke said.
“We’re super optimistic,” Burke said. “We’re really looking forward to getting the site open.”
