ASHTABULA -- A city police detective tied together two crimes, leading to the arrest of two teenage boys Wednesday, police said.
Detective Sean Ward discovered two 16-year-olds were responsible for the armed robberies of the Circle K store, 833 Lake Ave., on April 13, and of the Quick Fill gas station on Route 534 and Interstate 90 in Geneva Township, the same day, according to the police report.
The teens brandished a stolen scoped rifle and baseball bat and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, the report said.
When Ward questioned the boys about the robbery in Geneva, the boys admitted to the crime in the city, the report said. One of the teens already has a criminal record, police said.
City police gave the Ashtabula County Sheriff's Department the information they uncovered regarding the Geneva Township robbery.
