ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP — A new plaza featuring a Mr. Hero restaurant is in the works for later this year.
Mr. Hero restaurant, 3208 State Road, will move into a new plaza to be built in the 2200 block of East Prospect Road.
“Nothing has been formally submitted, but the My Khush Corporation of Mentor, plans to build a small plaza on the site,” said Jamie Vest, zoning inspector for Ashtabula Township.
A house on the property, which faces East Prospect, was recently demolished.
The principal on record for My Khush Corp. is Yogesh R. Patel, according to company’s website. He could not be reached for comment Friday.
Patel plans to keep the Mr. Hero at 1746 West Prospect. Only the State Road location will move to the new plaza when built, most likely sometime in late spring, employees said.
The Mr. Hero franchise has a long history in northeast Ohio. In 1965, Robert A. Coulson, the founder of Mr. Hero opened his first submarine shop on Cleveland’s west side. Since that time, Mr. Hero has expanded the market to Toledo, Columbus, Akron, Ashtabula, Jefferson, Geneva and Madison.
The Corporate Headquarter, Restaurant Developers Corp. of Cleveland, is the franchising company behind Mr. Hero restaurants, according to the company website.
