AUSTINBURG TOWNSHIP — A woman called the sheriff Monday after coming across an intoxicated man on a bike trail who was wearing no pants.
The man, 58, of Austinburg, has not yet been charged with a crime. The sheriff's office is requesting charges of public indecency and public intoxication, according to a police report.
A deputy was sent to a bike trail near Jewel's Dance Hall, 1770 Mill St., just after 2 p.m. for a report of an elderly man, walking along the path and not wearing pants, the report states. The man was stumbling and told the women he wasn't feeling well.
When the deputy arrived just after 2:20 p.m. they found the man sitting on a picnic table without pants or underwear with scratches and abrasions on his legs.
The man was slurring his words and saying things that didn't make sense, the report states. A deputy asked the man about his pants and the man said they were "somewhere in the woods," although he was not sure where.
The Northwest Ambulance District took the man to an area hospital to check on his medical condition due to his level of intoxication and the various abrasions and scratches.
