HARPERSFIELD TOWNSHIP — A man died in a crash on Wednesday night after failing to stop at a stop sign, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Michael H Seese, 53, of Painesville, was riding a motorcycle westbound on Cork Cold Springs Road when he failed to yield at the stop sign at Route 534 and struck a pick-up truck driving south on Route 534, driven by John E. Offak, 79, of Geneva, according to a OHP statement.
The truck went off the west side of Route 534 and overturned. Seese was ejected from his motorcycle and died, according to the statement. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, according to the statement.
Offak received minor injuries. He was wearing his seatbelt, according to the statement.
The crash remains under investigation.
