ROCK CREEK — The Dr. James Bissell Nature Center, 3973 Callender Rd. just south of Rock Creek and west of Rt. 45, will be hosting a presentation by Bissell from 7-8 p.m. Aug. 22, entitled “Rare Plants of the Grand River Basin.”

This program is offered to the public free of charge.

Bissell is one of Ohio’s premier botanists.

He is responsible for much of what is currently known about plant diversity and distribution in northeast Ohio, particularly the snow belt. His work has helped preserve land with rare species and habitats throughout the region.

Bissell has worked at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History for 48 years, and is the Curator of Botany and Director of Natural Areas.

He is also an Honorary Life Trustee for The Nature Conservancy in Ohio.
