ASHTABULA — A man was shot multiple times at the Bonniewood Ashtabula Metropolitan Housing Authority housing complex Monday afternoon.
The incident happened around 1 p.m. on Monday, Ashtabula Police Chief Robert Stell said.
Four people were involved in the shooting, including the victim, and multiple shots were fired, Stell said.
Police became aware of the incident when the victim arrived at the emergency room. The victim was flown via helicopter from the hospital, Stell said.
Life-flighting gunshot victims after they are stabilized is common practice, Stell said.
The victim's name and condition is not known at this time.
At least five Ashtabula Police officers and detectives were on the scene investigating the shooting. Red tape was draped around a parking area outside the AMHA fencing.
Detectives could be seen photographing cars and other evidence on the scene. Small yellow evidence markers were placed around the area where the shooting occurred.
Residents of the complex stopped to watch from time to time and then went about their business. Construction workers continued a sidewalk repair project as the police officers did their work.
