JEFFERSON — A Saybrook Township man was indicted on numerous counts of child rape by an Ashtabula County grand jury.
Scott M. Leininger, 34, of Saybrook Township, was indicted on 10 counts of rape, all first-degree felonies. He has pleaded not guilty and his bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety with the condition that he have no contact with the victims in the case, all of whom are still under the age of 11.
All of the rapes he is accused of occurred in Saybrook Township.
The Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office would not release a report from the incident, and the county prosecutor’s office refuses to comment on sex abuse cases involving children.
In three counts of rape in the indictment, Leininger is accused of engaging is sexual conduct with one of the victims between January 2015 and December 2016. When the rapes occurred in 2015, police said the victim was under the age of 10 and when they occurred in 2016 the victim was under the age of 13.
In one of the counts of rape, Leininger is accused of engaging in sexual conduct between January 2016 and December 2016 with a second victim who was under the age of 13.
In the other six counts of the indictment, Leininger is accused of engaging in sexual conduct with a third victim who was under 10-years-old. Those crimes were committed between January 2015 and December 2016, according to the indictment.
The case has been assigned to Judge Gary Yost.
