SAYBROOK TOWNSHIP — Ashtabula County Metroparks will have a town hall meeting Sunday to update the public on plans for a new Red Brook Metropark at the former Ashtabula Country Club and Harbor Golf Club.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Martinis! Restaurant and Lounge, 4338 Lake Road W. An optional pre-meeting hike along the paved trail will be 5 p.m.

"As of today, the property is owned by a wholly owned subsidiary of the Western Reserve Land Conservancy, which has been our partner in the process," said Larry Frimerman, executive director of Ashtabula County Metroparks.

Metroparks now leases the property from Western Reserve while the final grant is being processed. Once completed, the property will be transferred to Metroparks later this year, Frimerman said.

Plans for the park include a sledding hill, paved trails, primitive trails, wildlife viewing, a pavilion and a tunnel connection under Carpenter Road.
