ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP — Ineos Pigments is looking to expand its operations on Middle Road.
The business is planning a 15,000-square-foot expansion, said Ashtabula County Commissioner Casey Kozlowski. The project is expected to add 27 full-time jobs and research and development facilities, he said.
Ineos Pigments currently operates two manufacturing facilities on Middle Road in Ashtabula Township, according to the company’s website. The sites currently produce titanium dioxide, a bright white powder, used in coatings, plastics and paper, according to the website.
Ineos Pigments, currently headquartered in Maryland, is one of a number of companies under the Ineos Enterprises umbrella. The company purchased Cristal in 2019 for $700 million, according to a press release from Ineos.
“We’re very grateful to have Ineos in the county,” Kozlowski said. The company employs a large number of people in Ashtabula County, he said.
The expansion indicates that Ineos plans to stay in Ashtabula, Kozlowski said.
In November, commissioners passed a 50 percent tax abatement which will be effective from 2022 to 2031, Kozlowski said. Ineos is expected to invest a total of $3 million into the expansion, and payroll at the facility is expected to increase by $2.7 million, he said.
