SAYBROOK TOWNSHIP — Gordmans will open its new store — currently Peebles — in the Saybrook Plaza on June 27.

Owner Stage Stores launched Gordmans as an off-price retailer in 2017 and has been converting 25 of its Peebles stores in Ohio to Gordmans, including the location at 2456 West Prospect Road. Peebles will close June 15, giving Stage Stores time to prepare for the grand opening, store officials said.

The Saybrook Gordmans will host its grand opening celebration beginning with a ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. June 27. During the ceremony, Gordmans will present a $1,000 check to a local high school.

“At Gordmans, we have put the fun back into shopping by creating an exciting store where terrific deals, fun finds and popular name brands are at every turn. This means exceptional values on merchandise for all ages and on-trend décor for the home,” said Michael Glazer, president and CEO of Stage Stores. “Fresh new merchandise deliveries arrive weekly in our stores, creating the thrill of a great find.”

Community members are invited to Gordmans’ grand opening ribbon cutting, joining city officials before touring the new store.

The new Ohio stores are part of a Gordmans Grand Opening Tour Celebration, which includes 36 brand new Gordmans stores opening this month across the country. As part of the festivities, Gordmans stores will be offering giveaways and surprises.

Last month, Gordmans hosted a job fair at Peebles, hiring 20 more employees for the new store.

All 10 of the Peebles employees were given the option of staying on the job.
