ASHTABULA — Get a mammogram in October, get a chance to win a gift.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Ashtabula County Medical Center is encouraging women to get a mammogram.
One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, but when caught early, the survival rate for breast cancer increases dramatically. The best prevention is early detection, primarily through annual mammograms.
Every woman who has a mammogram at ACMC during October will be entered into a drawing to win a tote bag, earrings, scarf, hand cream, lipstick, nail polish, makeup bag and bottle of wine. ACMC Auxiliary volunteers and Kosicek Vineyards donated the gifts.
The first 200 women to get their mammogram will also receive a special gift.
A mammogram uses X-rays to show the tissue of the breast, and mammograms are considered the gold-standard test for detecting breast cancer.
ACMC and Conneaut Family Health Center offers digital mammography. A physician’s referral is needed to schedule a mammogram. Once you have a physician’s order, schedule a mammogram at ACMC by calling 440-997-6686. Conneaut Family Health Center offers walk-in mammograms with a physician’s order.
The gift prize will be drawn Nov. 1. Entrants do not need to be present to win.
