ASHTABULA — A new fitness studio is coming to 1810 E. Prospect Road on Nov. 1.
Functional High Intensity Interval Training, also known as FHIIT, is not your regular box gym, said its owners, Kourtney and Matthew Anderson.
“FHIIT is a type of exercise that emphasizes functional; multi-joint movements that can be modified to any fitness level and trigger greater muscle recruitment then more traditional exercises,” Kourtney Anderson said. “This form of fitness is known to help improve metabolic and cardio-respiratory adaptions. Interval Training is a type of training that involves a series of high-intensity workouts interspersed with rest or relief periods.”
“There are modifications for every single exercise and every single person,” Kourtney said. “Our workouts are broken up by muscle group and arranged perfectly throughout the week. The arrangements allow you to give your muscles the correct amount of recovery time needed to heal.”
There will be 44 classes held 5 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.
“Every day works a different muscle group and gives the perfect amount of recovery time,” she said. “The gym has blue lighting which is great for focus, alertness and mood boost. The music is upbeat and fun.”
FHIIT will also offer yoga and chair yoga.
“This fitness studio is like SNAP, Planet Fitness or Premier Fitness,” Kourtney Anderson said. “There is nothing we consider competition in this area.”
The Andersons grew up in Ashtabula and both graduated in 2011 from Edgewood Senior High School.
“We were living in California and moved back last year,” she said. “Matthew was stationed at Camp Pendleton Marine base in San Diego. We moved back to Ashtabula to have our baby girl.”
