ASHTABULA — Crystal methamphetamine, cash and drug packaging material were seized during a Feb. 11 raid in the 700 block of East 14th Street by the Ashtabula Police Department Narcotics Investigative Unit.

During the raid, Craig D. Barnum, 37, of Kingsville, fled the scene on foot.

A short time later, police apprehended Barnum hiding inside an East 14th Street residence. Police soon discovered Barnum was concealing about 94 grams of crystal meth. In addition to the drugs, cash, drug packaging material and a digital scale were found at the residence. A 45-year-old woman was taken into custody, but police have not released her name.

Barnum faces charges of trafficking in meth, tampering with evidence, possession of criminal tools and obstruction. He is being held in the city jail on a $50,000 cash or surety bond.

In conjunction with the east-side investigation, APDNIU members traveled to the 1500 block of Harbor Avenue in the Ashtabula Harbor. Kelly Maresh, 49, of Ashtabula, was arrested at the scene on active warrants.

Investigators then executed a search warrant at the residence and discovered 25 grams of crystal meth. Maresh now faces charges of trafficking in meth and possession of criminal tools. He remains in the city jail on a $5,000 cash, surety or property bond.
