ASHTABULA — Police are looking for the man who led them on a vehicle pursuit, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a house early Wednesday.

An officer attempted to pull the driver over for a traffic stop after observing the driver speeding in a white Ford Ranger in the vicinity of West 52nd Street and Jefferson Avenue.

“The driver then blew through a stop sign,” Police Chief Robert Stell said. “When the officer turned on his lights, [the driver] accelerated and started zig-zagging through the neighborhood.”

The pursuit continued to Washington Avenue and West 57th  Street, where the driver crashed the truck into a house and overturned, according to police reports.

The driver, described as a thin, white male, exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

Officers attempted to apprehend the driver, to no avail.

No one was injured.

The house did not sustain serious damage, police said.

While police searched for the driver, the vehicle was reported stolen by another party.

Anyone with any information on the identity of the driver should call the Ashtabula Police Department at 440-992-7172.
