CONNEAUT — The 14th annual Sock Hop and Car Show will take place Saturday.
The Sock Hop will be 12-6 p.m. and feature classic cars, bands and a pair of 50/50 raffles, organizer Darlyene Brisley said.
Dash plaques will be available for the first 150 cars registered for the event, Brisley said. The event will take place at the intersection of Main and Broad streets, with additional events on Washington Street.
Four bands will be playing at the event, Brisley said, Matty B and the Dirty Pickles, Silent Khaos, the Radio Flyyer and Remember Then.
The American Legion Post 151 will provide a color guard for the opening of the event, and Tim Krause will offer the opening prayer.
There will be 50/50 raffles at 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., Brisley said. In addition, there will also be an extensive Chinese auction, with at least 50 items for auction.
The money raised by the Sock Hop this year will go to help Conneaut High School athletics and children with autism.
Each year, the Sock Hop donates money to fill a different need in the community. Last year, the event’s proceeds were donated to buy new security cameras for Conneaut schools.
“People really look forward to it every year, and it generates a lot of business,” said Wendy DuBey, Conneaut Chamber of Commerce executive director.
