JEFFERSON — Commissioners approved more than $775,000 for resurfacing of just under 10 miles of county roads in the coming months.
Ashtabula-based Koski Construction Co. will pave 9.7 miles of road at a cost not to exceed $776,769, according to the resolution passed by commissioners.
The roads that will receive work are Pymatuning Lake Road from Route 85 to Padanarum Road, all of South River Road in Harpersfield Township and Windsor-Mechanicsville Road from Route 6 to Cork Cold Springs Road, according to County Engineer Tim Martin.
Windsor-Mechanicsville Road will be entirely resurfaced after this job is complete because a portion of it was paved last year, Martin said.
Martin said the start and finish of the paving projects will be dependent upon the contractor’s schedule as well as weather conditions.
“I would anticipate that they should have everything wrapped up by the end of October,” Martin said.
In other business, commissioners approved a $148,200 contract with Geneva-based Building Technicians Corp. for replacement of the Conneaut Human Resource Center roof.
Conneaut City Council President Debbie Newcomb, who is executive director of the Conneaut Human Resource Center, said the nonprofit center received around $40,000 in Community Development Block Grant dollars which enabled her to apply for a NOPEC low interest loan program in order to fund the rest of the project.
The center was built sometime in the 1960s and along the way about one third of the roof was replaced, Newcomb said. This project will replace the remaining two thirds, or 14,200 square feet, of old roof, she said.
