ASHTABULA — A city man now faces a first-degree felony charge of attempted murder after police say he cut a woman’s throat Wednesday night, according to Municipal Court records.

Reshad Riddle, 23, of 1634 W. Seventh St., is being held in the city jail on a $75,000 cash or surety bond, court records show.

The 22-year-old victim was transported to Ashtabula County Medical Center at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday by a girlfriend, according to police reports.

The girlfriend called 911 and told the dispatcher her friend’s throat had been cut and she was taking her to the hospital, the report said.

Police went to the emergency room to interview the victim.

Acting detective Capt. Joseph Cellitti said the young woman’s neck had been cut with a knife and she suffered bruising on her side and chest.

Riddle, who recently was charged with domestic violence, is no stranger to city police.

Since 2005, he has been charged with more than a half-dozen crimes, including disorderly conduct, felonious assault, kidnapping, abduction and assault, according to Municipal Court records.
