ANDOVER TOWNSHIP — Fiscal officer Karen Chapman kept her seat during the election Tuesday, beating challenger Betty Legg.
Chapman received 349 votes and Legg received 209 votes, according to unofficial results from the Ashtabula County Board of Elections.
Chapman, 65, has been the fiscal officer since 2005. She is also a part-time business manager for the Andover United Methodist Church.
Chapman, who has also served as township zoning inspector and the secretary of Andover Township Zoning and Zoning Board of Appeals, had said her service and experience are what made her the best candidate.
Reached by phone, Chapman said she is happy voters supported her.
“I want to thank the people of Andover Township who gave me another four years,” she said.
Legg, 54, has been employed with accounting firm Snodgrass of Northeast Ohio, Inc. for 11 years. She completes all aspects of accounting, including individual and corporate income tax, payroll and payroll taxes and bookkeeping. During her campaign she took shots at Chapman’s performance as fiscal officer and said she would do a better job.
Legg could not immediately be reached for comment.
