GRAND RIVER ACADEMY
AUSTINBURG - Seven years following the death of Dylan Sertich, a new memorial has been built for the young athlete who graduated from Grand River Academy in 1995. Grand River Academy's new baseball field, Dylan Field, was dedicated on April 29. Sertich was a student at Grand River Academy for three and a half years and earned a varsity letter in baseball. With the preparation that the academy had given him, Dylan continued his success at the University of Toledo. The passion that he developed for baseball while attending the academy will allow many young men to share the same interest on this new baseball field.
Thomas and Beverly Sertich, Dylan's parents, helped make the field possible through a generous gift to the school. The Sertichs were active as parents during Dylan's time as a student, and continue to be significantly involved in supporting GRA.
The Grand River baseball team is benefiting from the kindness of the Sertich family. Guests at the most recent game, playing Heritage Chris-tian, stated that the field really turned out so beautiful, while some others were simply enjoying the baseball game. All in all, the field turned out amazingly well and future teams are sure to enjoy it for years to come. Dylan Field has hosted five home games; three of them have been wins for the GRA Eagles. The field is the newest addition to the Academy, looks phenomenal, and is a top-notch facility.
The academy will always be grateful to the contributions that the Sertichs have made to the school. May Dylan's spirit live forever through the youths that play on this field, carrying on his love of baseball.
