ASHTABULA — The Ashtabula County Safety Council will present its 2016 Dixon Greenwood Safety Award Thursday.
The organization, sponsored by Ashtabula County Technical and Career Campus, is one of more than 80 such groups dedicated to keeping workers safe throughout Ohio and is comprised of more than 100 area businesses and organizations.
Several awards for workplace safety will be presented at the banquet including the Dixon Greenwood Award, named for Dixon Greenwood, who is credited by organizers for setting an example and standard in Ashtabula County workplace safety throughout his career at Union Carbide Metals, later Elkem Metals.
Keynote speaker for the event will be nutritionist Zonya Foco.
The banquet will feature dinner, vendors and door prizes. The cost is $18 per person or $126 for a table seating eight.
Doors open 10 a.m. Thursday at Andrus Banquet Center, 2259 West Ave. The program will begin promptly at 11:30 a.m.
