“I am getting much more comfortable with the program,” Barber said. “The students are a lot of help, and they do a lot for the program.” Members of NHS have many ideas for the remainder of this school year. The students are excited to begin planning service projects and other school activities for the upcoming months, and hope to incorporate more projects than the program has in previous years. The 2014 NHS president, Kadi Scafuro, announced that the group would be getting involved with many more activities, and that they would like the input of the community as well.
“We’re going to unify the program through service,” Scafuro said. “NHS should be a big part of the members’ lives and our actions should have a big impact on the community. To make this happen, it is up to us.” The National Honor Society at Jefferson High School is growing steadily, and the members’ involvement in the community is expected to have great impacts. The top students of JHS plan to keep working hard to be leaders in the classroom and helpful volunteers in making their community a better place.
