ASHTABULA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

• Thieves took a variety of items from an Ashtabula Township house early Tuesday morning without disturbing a sleeping woman or her dogs, according to the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office.

A flat-screen TV, a video game console, computer monitor and several bottles of alcohol were taken from the Old Woods Drive residence, deputies said. When the woman awoke, she saw the back door open and muddy footprints on the floor. She contacted deputies around 7:45 a.m., little more than two hours after her roommate had left for work, according to a report.

Dogs on the property barked at deputies who responded to the call. Some of those dogs slept in the same bedroom as the woman, but apparently didn’t make a sound during the burglary, deputies said.
