• Charges are pending against a handful of individuals making claims and counter-claims of criminal activity, police said.

The incident began around 9 p.m. Saturday, when a man and a woman came to the police station to report the theft of a television set and name a Conneaut man they said committed the crime. Police later learned the alleged incident took place in Ashtabula.

Later, the so-called suspect contacted police to report his accuser, armed with a shotgun, was on his property in the Beaver Street area. Upon arrival, witnesses told officers the man was neither carrying a gun or trespassing. The man recanted his story about the trespassing but maintained his accuser was carrying a shotgun, according to a report.

The matter has been referred to the law director’s office for charges, police said.

• A Maple Avenue woman told police Friday morning she suspects her neighbor “poisoned” her plants, officers said.

The woman returned home after a lengthy trip to discover the plants had died, according to a report. The woman contacted police around 7:14 a.m.

• An e-reader/tablet device was reported stolen Wednesday afternoon at Conneaut Township Park, police said.

• Marijuana plants were found growing at City Cemetery on Liberty Street Wednesday afternoon, police said. The plants were gathered and destroyed, officers said.
