SAYBROOK TOWNSHIP —
David J. Teston, age 79, of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away Tuesday evening, June 17, 2014, at Saybrook Landing in Ashtabula.
Born July 25, 1934, in Plainfield, N.J., he was the son of Robert E. and Lillian (Dooley) Teston.
A 1957 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Mr. Teston worked for 43 years for ESAB where he retired as vice president of the Ashtabula, Ohio and Niagara Falls, New York Plants.
He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish and was involved in many church aspects including hospital and nursing home ministries and lay leader. He was a humble, low-key man and an avid Notre Dame Football fan.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, reading, and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice P. (DeAngelis) Teston; two daughters, Susan (Bob) Howland of Freedom, Pa., and Elizabeth (Loren) Auers of Fayetteville, Ga.; five sons, David (Tina) of Clark, N.J., Rev. Michael (Lois) Teston of Hinckley, Ohio, Peter (Robin) Teston of Ashtabula, Ohio, Dennis Teston of New York City, N.Y., and Robert Teston of Canal Fulton, Ohio; a brother, Robert (Marie) Teston of New Jersey; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Theresa in infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m., Noon, Saturday, June 21st, at St. Francis Cabrini Church, 734 Mill St., Conneaut, Ohio, with the Rev. Fr. Philip Miller as celebrant. Burial will be in East Lake Cemetery, North Kingsville, Ohio.
Calling Hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 20th, at the MARCY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, Ohio, which has charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home and at the Church.
