Wilbur J. “Bill” Hall, age 87, formerly of Pierpont, Ohio, passed away Monday, April 12, 2010, at Country Club Retirement Center, Ashtabula.
Born Dec. 13, 1922, in Conneaut, Ohio, he was the son of the late Lynn and Florence (Holt) Hall. A lifelong resident of Pierpont, he was married to the late Dorothy (Brayman) Hall for 64 years.
Bill was a graduate of Pierpont High School and served in the Merchant Marines during WW II. He returned to Pierpont to spent the remainder of his life working and raising his family.
He will be remembered as a dairy farmer, used car dealer, auctioneer and the owner of Bill Hall Chevrolet Inc. in Andover, Ohio. He was a lifetime member of the Penn Line Church of Christ, teaching and serving the Lord as an elder for many years.
Bill enjoyed serving on the Andover Bank board as a director for several years. He was also an active member of the Pierpont School Board and represented Pierpont on the Buckeye Board of Education until 1966.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; brother, Jerry; and sisters, Marion Hall and Ruth Usher.
Bill is survived by a son, Jim (Linda) Hall of Jefferson; daughter, Ruth (Ed) Best of Ashtabula; four grandchildren, Derek (Heather) Best of Colorado, Erin (Jeff) Rix of Pennsylvania, Kristi (John) Hackworth of Pennsylvania and Josh Hall of Arizona; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Sowers of Pennsylvania; and a sister-in-law, Chess Hall of Ohio.
He was a wonderful father and never hesitated to let his children know how much he loved them and how blessed he was to have had the life God gave him. His presence in their lives will be greatly missed.
Calling Hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m., TODAY, Friday, April 16th, at Penn Line Church of Christ, Route 6 East, Pierpont.
Funeral will be 11 a.m., Saturday, April 17th, at the Church, with Pastor Jon Pratt officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Penn Line Church of Christ, Andover Christian Church or the East Side Presbyterian Church of Ashtabula.
