He was born April 27, 1942, in Kent, Ohio and husband of Marianne (Raymond) McCracken of 47 years. He resided in Brunswick for 45 years. Carl was the son of the late William E. and M. Margaret (Dorn) McCracken.

Survived by his sons, Scott Raymond McCracken of Medina and Ryan Page McCracken of Brunswick; sister, Rose Marie (Posie) (Clarence) (Butch) Cobb of Kent, Ohio; brother, Robert (Debbi) McCracken of Florida; and grandchildren, Kaylee, Nicholas and Courtney. Also, he is survived by nephew, Sean (Kristen) McCracken; and two great-nieces, Blake and Isabella. Carl leaves sister-in-law and husband, Charles and Nancy (Raymond) Wright; and brother-in-law and wife, Willard and Kay Raymond. Also, he is survived by many nieces and nephews-in-law and great nieces and nephews who loved him very much.

Carl owned Western Lakes and worked 11 years in the Parma School District at Hillside Junior High. The students and staff made his years at school rewarding. He graduated from Kent Roosevelt High School in 1960 and attended University of Akron. Carl served in the Ohio National Guard for six years. Even though he enjoyed all athletics, his passion was officiating high school sports. He was a volleyball official for 20 years, football official for 30 years, and umpired baseball and softball for 40 years. Prior to that, he coached his son's teams. He played, managed and sponsored his softball team until he was 50 years old.

For five years, Carl fought a tough battle with cancer. During that time, his grandchildren were shining stars that kept him wanting to live. He, also, enjoyed traveling to Lake Tahoe, the Mediterranean, California Coast, Florida and Disney, and a trip around the British lsles where he fulfilled a dream to visit Normandy and Omaha Beach. Carl has been an inspiration to all who knew him.
