ST. JOSEPH, Mich. — Elsie K. Myers, age 84, formerly of Fort Wayne, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2013, in St. Joseph, Mich.
She was born Sept. 6, 1928, in Ashtabula, Ohio, a daughter of the late Werner and Agda (Ojajarvi) Keskinen. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and Vocal Performance from Murray State College in Murray, Ky. Elsie was a naturally gifted soprano. On Dec. 19, 1952, she married William H. Myers in Murray, Ky.
She was employed as the receptionist at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Wayne from 1989 until 2006. She was a member of the church where she served as a deacon and shared her talent as a member of the choir for many years. She dedicated her life to her family. She raised two sons and enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow up.
For the last two years, she resided at Whitcomb Towers Retirement Community near her son, Verne, in St. Joseph, Mich.
Surviving are her sons, William H. (Gretchen) Myers Jr. of Doylestown, Pa. and Verne (Carole Stanley-Myers) Myers of St. Joseph, Mich.; and six grandchildren, Scott, Amy, Julie, Eric, Lauren and Keith; and her sisters, Aina Rappold of Springhill, Fla. and Esther Bly of Conneaut, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill on May 13, 1988.
A memorial service was held Thursday, Aug. 15th, at First Presbyterian Church, 300 W. Wayne St., Fort Wayne.
