JEFFERSON — Howard C. Rich, age 94, of Windsor-Mechanicsville Road, Trumbull Township, Ohio, died Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 4, 2013, at the Jefferson Healthcare Center where he has been a patient the past 20 months.
He was born March 21, 1919, at his current residence in Trumbull Township and has lived there all of his life. He was married to Doris M. Glass on Oct. 22, 1943, at the Rock Creek Methodist Church.
Mr. Rich owned and operated the Valley View Farm.
He was a member of the Maple Grove Grange, the Ruritan Club, served as a Trumbull Township trustee, served on the Rock Creek School Board, was a member of the Ashtabula County Farm Bureau and the Ashtabula County Holstein Association. Farming was his joy, but he also enjoyed traveling and playing pinnacle.
Survivors include his wife, Doris; two sons, Clark (Detta) Rich of Yorktown, Va., and Henry C. (Rene’) Rich of Trumbull Township; five grandchildren, Eric H. Rich Sr., Leasa D. (Myron) Worley, Jeannie M. Rich, Marc H. Rich and Misty K. Rich; six great-grandchildren, Leeah, Caiti, Samantha, Eric Jr., Audrey and Rachael; and one great-great-grandchild, Greenlee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Jerry Clark Rich; and a sister, Rena Porzsolt.
Funeral Services will be 1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 9th, at the Jefferson Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS & CREMATORY, INC., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Gordon Emerson officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Union Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clark, Henry, Eric Sr., Eric Jr. and Marc Rich, and Myron Worley.
Visitation will be held Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
