ASHTABULA — Margaret Matilda Pocza, age 83, of Country Club Retirement Campus, passed away Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, in the Hospice Unit of Ashtabula County Medical Center from respiratory failure.
She was born Nov. 4, 1929 and raised in Fairport Harbor, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Gabor) Kanocz. Shortly after graduation from Painesville Harvey High School, she married Michael F. Pocza on July 30, 1948 and they have celebrated 65 wonderful years together.
Margaret was a kind, loving, and nurturing wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to watch the Cleveland Browns’ games during Sunday afternoon family get-togethers.
She enjoyed playing in the bocce league and attending Friday night dinners at the Painesville Elks, #549. She also enjoyed traveling and taking cruises. She and her husband took several Caribbean cruises, including an especially memorable one for their 50th wedding anniversary. They also traveled to Europe.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Michael of Ashtabula; son, Thomas (Bonnie) Pocza of Ashtabula; daughter, Brandy (Dennis) Boncha of Perry; grandchildren, Michael (Jen) Pocza, Amanda (Judd) Fell, Lisa (Conrad) Snover, Julie (Carl) Boncha and Karen Toutant; great-grandchildren, Kya, Kane, Austin, Caylee, Cruz and Ashlynn; and her sister, Helen Bodnar of Painesville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, William Kanocz; and a sister, Elizabeth Toth.
She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
At her request, private services will be held by the family at a later date.
