Patricia A. Robinson Osborne

CAMARILLO, Calif. — Patricia Ann Robinson Osborne passed away in Camarillo, Calif., on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, following a lengthy illness.

Pat was born on Jan. 11, 1935, to Lee and Dora (Wheeler) Robinson of Bristolville, Ohio. She is a granddaughter of William Wheeler and Stella Payne Wheeler, and has many relatives in NE Ohio. Music was central in her life. By age 10, she was the pianist for their North Bristol Christian Church. She graduated from Bristol High School, Class of 1953. She was awarded a scholarship to Ohio State University for clarinet.

After graduating, she taught school for a year near Cleveland before moving to California where she taught, and met Edwin M. Osborne. Ed and Pat married Sept. 10, 1960, and settled in Ventura. After another year of teaching, Pat turned her focus to raising her family and to a vast array of interests and talents.

Pat played keyboard with the Ventura County Symphony for twenty years, accompanied many gifted singers, and taught piano. Her family fondly remembers listening to her practice - the sound of beautiful, classical music was a constant and welcome presence. A favorite combination was Rustle of Spring and Malaguena.

Pat found many ways to express her creativity. She sewed, crocheted afghans, restored furniture, created jewelry, photographed beauty and took pleasure in sharing these pursuits with her children, grandchildren and friends. Each year, she created dozens of intricately cut snowflakes, dipped in wax and glitter, which became cherished ornaments for friends, family and strangers.

Pat was happiest with her immediate and extended family. She loved camping trips, road trips to Ohio and Missouri, antique hunting, crafting, skating, skiing, train trips, cruises, holiday gatherings, astrology, palmistry, and numerology. And lots of games with everyone sharing the competitiveness and laughter.

Noticing a lack of musical training in the elementary school her daughters attended, Pat volunteered to lead an after-school choir. She led a ticket sales campaign that extended the life of the Ventura Concert Series, and with a small army of friends, chaired a very successful Silver Celebration for the Ventura County Symphony Association. In later years, her quick smile was augmented with her trademark glittery glasses and red boa.
