HILLIARD — Isabel (Salem) Hamilton, age 90, formerly of Avondale Blvd., Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at Darby Glenn Nursing Center in Hilliard, Ohio.
Born June 21, 1923, in Ashtabula, Ohio, she was the daughter of George and Ruby (Naddra) Salem. Ruby was a co-owner of Naddra’s Grocery that operated on Main Street for many years.
A graduate of Ashtabula High School, Isabel was married April 17, 1943 to William L. Hamilton. She worked as a copywriter and in real estate, and was active in volunteer work while raising her family. She attended First Presbyterian Church of Ashtabula. She is remembered as an exceptional cook and homemaker and for winning multiple slogan-writing contests in the 1960s.
Survivors include her former husband, William L. Hamilton of Painesville, Ohio; daughters, Carol A. Hamilton of Cleveland Heights, Ohio and Marsha J. Hamilton of Hilliard, Ohio; a son, William E. Hamilton of Eastvale, Calif.; grandson, John A. Hamilton of Ann Arbor, Mich.; granddaughter, Elizabeth M. Hertenstein (Chris Bruce) of Bowling Green, Ohio; and cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 24th, at Greenlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, 3140 E. Center St., North Kingsville, Ohio, with the Rev. Dr. Stephen Long officiating.
At her request, no calling hours will be observed.
