Glenn E. McKay

WARREN — Glenn E. McKay, age  87, of Todd Dr., Kingsville, Ohio, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at Select Specialty Hospital in Warren, Ohio.

He was born March 22, 1926, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of Glenn E. and Marian M. (Hewitt) McKay and was a lifetime area resident and attended Ashtabula Schools. A Veteran, he served with the 84th Division of the U.S. Army in World War II in the European Theater of Operations. During the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes Forest, he was wounded in action there on Jan. 15, 1945, and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

He was a former Boy Scout Leader and was owner and manager of Locust Lane Camp Grounds. He was employed by the East Ohio Gas Company; and retired from Rockwell International Brake Division in Ashtabula in 1983, also from Weather Sealco in 1994.

He had served on the Ash/Craft Board of Happy Hearts and was vice president of the Rockwell Credit Union. He was a member and served on the Session of the Kingsville Presbyterian Church. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Neil Post #743; The Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife Julie McKay, whom he married Nov. 29, 1975, in Jefferson; two daughters, Kathy (Donald) Sparks of Canal Fulton, Ohio, and Shelly McKay of Ashtabula; three step-sons, Russell Salberg and Scott Salberg, both of Ashtabula and Richard (Kathy) Salberg of Mentor-on-the-Lake; three step-daughters, Julie (James) Smith of Lakewood, Ohio, Linda (Neil) Lider of North Olmstead, Ohio, and Pamela (Russell) DiTurno of North Royalton, Ohio; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Richard Severa of Houston, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Hubert McKay.

A Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26th, at the Kingsville Presbyterian Church, 3056 West Main St., Kingsville, with Pastor Scott Stedman officiating.
