ANDOVER — Richard William Kenneth Chervinski, age 80, passed away Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at the Andover Village Retirement Community, Andover, Ohio.

He was born Oct. 1, 1933, in Flint, Mich., the son of Richard K.W. and Rose (Bogner) Chervinski and had been an Andover resident most of his life.

A Christian by faith, he was proud to have never taken a drink in his life.

A lifelong farmer, he was committed to the farm and helping people with food and firewood. He was very generous and a tireless worker, never taking a vacation. His life revolved around his work and his family, caring for his wife with her numerous health issues.

Richard was a supporter of the State Highway Patrol and had hoped at one time to become one. He was drafted, but excused through a farm furlough while his brother, Stephen, served in Korea as an MP.

He survived being struck by lightning and loved his dogs, “Buffy, Rudy and Buddy”. He was also a gifted painter in his younger years, specializing in the oil painting of grist mills. Richard also enjoyed country blue grass and polka music.

His survivors include his wife, Venia Elizabeth (Trivet) Chervinski, whom he married on Nov. 19, 1955; three children, Kenneth Everett (Susan) Chervinski of Conneaut, Ricky (Jamie) Chervinski of Conneaut and Peggy (Delmas) Hickman of Andover; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Chervinski; and his parents.

A Private Service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and caregivers at Andover Village and Hospice of the Western Reserve for their loving and compassionate care.
