Barbara A. Whipple

AUSTINBURG — Barbara Ann Whipple, age 71, was called home on Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, with the love and prayers of her loving family.

The daughter of Hence and Dorothy (Siler) Johnson, she was born on Sept. 21, 1941, in Rockwood, Tenn. On Dec. 21, 1968, she married Marvin L. Whipple and together they shared forty years of love and memories until his death on June 16, 2008.

Barbara was a faithful and active member of Hiawatha Church of God in Christ, where she served on the Junior Mother’s Board. She loved sharing her love of the Lord with her family and friends.

She enjoyed sports of all types and reading. Barbara enjoyed meeting many people on her journey of life. She had the ability to speak to anyone; she would give you words of encouragement and wisdom to help you on your journey through life.

Barbara’s greatest delight in life were her children and grandchildren, she enjoyed watching them grow into adulthood and having families of their own. She spoiled her grandchildren with love and affection and always told them how much she loved them.

Barbara is survived by her children, Jimmy L. Parker of Ashtabula, Stacie G. Whipple-Bailey of Michigan, and Christopher Whipple, also of Ashtabula; her nine beloved grandchildren and her ten precious great-grandchildren; sisters, Fredia Benton, Lauren Benton and Jean Turner, all of Ashtabula and Deanna (Willie) Hughes of Greensboro, N.C.; step-father, Charles Benton; and many loving nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 p.m., Noon, on Saturday, Sept. 28th, at Hiawatha Church of God in Christ, with Superintendent David Howard, officiating. Her nephew, Vincent Benton will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Ridgeview Cemetery.

Calling Hours will be observed from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., Noon, on Saturday, Sept. 28th.

If desired, contribution's in Barbara’s name may be made to DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004. The family will donate all contributions to University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center to further researching development in the cure for cancer.
