LITTLETON, Mass. — Michael L. Benton, age 67, of King Road, Littleton, Mass., formerly of Orwell, Ohio, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Emerson Hospital, Concord, Mass.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio,  on Nov. 28, 1944, he was a son of Harry and Geraldine (Applequist) Benton and grew up in Orwell. He was a 1962 graduate of Grand Valley High School in Orwell. He has resided in Littleton for nearly 30 years.

A Veteran, Mr. Benton served his country in the United States Army for four years during the Vietnam era. Most recently, Mr. Benton worked in the maintenance department at Kimball’s Farm in Westford. Prior to that he had worked at Littleton Lumber and Moran Machine Company, both of Littleton and Valley Design in Westford. Earlier years were spent working at Itek Corporation and Unisys.

His greatest joys were spending time with his family; especially his two grandsons, and his dog “Mufasa”.

He leaves two daughters and a son-in-law, Melanie L. and Erik Lyons of Boxborough and Meaghan E. Benton of Littleton; five brothers, Edward Foose of Freemont, Ohio, Charles Foose Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio, Frank Foose of Alaska, John Foose of Millersburg, Ohio, and Ken Benton of Parma, Ohio; two sisters, Eleanor Bond of Parma, Ohio, and Jackie Turk of Windsor, Ohio; two grandsons, Ryker Lyons and Shane Lyons; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine A. (McDermott) Benton in July 1995; and his sister, Doris Sannitti of Cleveland.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13th, at Westlawn Cemetery, 7 Estate Road, Littleton.

Calling Hours are 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 12th, at the T.J. ANDERSON & SON FUNERAL HOME, 25 Fitchburg Road (Route 2A), Ayer.
