ASHTABULA — Eugene Sizemore, age 84, went to be with his beloved wife Eva on Friday, July 11, 2014.
The son of Earl and Rhoda (Begley) Sizemore, he was born on Oct. 8, 1929, in Knott County, Ky. and moved to the Ashtabula area in 1953.
Eugene was a valuable and dedicated employee of Elkem Metals; he retired after many years of service.
On Sept. 19, 1950, he was united in marriage to Eva Bailey and together they celebrated fifty-six years of love and memories prior to her death on Dec. 6, 2006.
Eugene was a member of Ashtabula First Church of the Nazarene.
In his younger years, Eugene enjoyed roller skating, in his later years dancing became one of his pastimes. A man who enjoyed tinkering with old cars; and even enjoyed the occasional motorcycle ride. Eugene’s greatest passion in life was his family. He was one of ten children, father of five, grandfather of twelve, and great-grandfather of seven. His love for them was unconditional and unending. He will be remembered for his love of friends and family, his triumph over adversity and his strength and goodness.
Eugene is survived by his loving children, Coy Sizemore, Sheila (Paul) Bledsoe, and Mark (Dana) Sizemore, all of Ashtabula, and Dawnetta (David) Hornyak of Bellville Ill.; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Sizemore of Bidwell, Ohio; twelve grandchildren, Veronica, Victoria, Eddie, Coy II, Kelly, Stephanie, Mandy, Amanda (Robert), Amy (Arthur), Matthew (Leslie) and Rachel (Jesse); seven great-grandchildren, Ashleigh, Robbie, Sarah, Eva, Lucus, Jack, and Adalynn; sister, Cleda Amburgey and brother, Wilmer Sizemore, both of Indiana; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Eugene was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eva; his son, Eugene Sizemore Jr.; and his daughter, Debbie Sizemore; granddaughter, Christa; siblings, Freda Bea Fields, Shirley Lovett, Louise Bridenhall, Christine Holland, Kelly Sizemore, Donald Sizemore, and his infant brother, Melvin Sizemore; and his parents.
Calling Hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 16th, at DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, July 17th, at the Funeral Home, with his Pastor, Mike Legg officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, Ohio.
