Louis J. Kiss

GENEVA — Louis J. Kiss, age 91, a resident of Geneva, Ohio, since 1952, passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Geneva Village Retirement Community.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 16, 1921, he was a son of the late Ludwig and Anna (Kaplan) Kiss and attended East High School in Cleveland. A Veteran, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942-1945 during World War II.

Louis started as a cook in the U.S. Army Air Corps, then worked as a Meat Cutter for A & P in Geneva for 22 years and retired after 10 years at the Perry IGA. He also worked at the Holland House in Cleveland; was a Cook at Quail Hollow; and owned Kiss's Kountry Kitchen in Madison and Geneva. 

He was a life member of Geneva VFW Post #6846; a member of Geneva FOE #2243; a member of Local 880 UFCW; and was a  member of Assumption Church in Geneva.

Louis liked to played pinnacle, enjoyed cooking and loved animals.

Survivors include his children: Donald (Kathy) Kiss, Marcy (Steve) Danyi, Carolyn (Homer) Amspaugh, Ellen Kiss, Mary (Doug) Zoner, Paul (Maria) Kiss, William Kiss, Kathy (Tim) Price and James (Tina) Kiss; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcell A. (Hoven) Kiss; his parents; a sister, Margaret Geistle; a brother, Edward Kiss; and grandson, Mark Kiss.

Calling Hours will be Friday, Jan. 18th, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the WALKER FUNERAL HOME, 828 Sherman St., Geneva, with Military Honors at 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 19th, at Assumption Church, 594 W. Main St., Geneva, with Father Melvin Rusnak as celebrant. Interment will be at Harpersfield Township, Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, the APL or a Charity of your choice.
