COLEBROOK — William C. Lozner, age 88, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Eagle Point Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born May 5, 1924, in Burghill, Ohio, the son of Karl and Mary (Novak) Lozner. He was raised and attended school in Bristolville. William was a decorated U.S. Naval Veteran, serving in WWII on the USS Lexington and USS Tulagi. William was married to Dorothy Woitella in August of 1953.
He worked for Republic Steel for 38 years and was a member of their baseball team. He was also a member of the Cortland Moose Mecca Lodge. William enjoyed the outdoors; especially hunting and fishing. He was an avid football fan and had a vast knowledge of the sport.
Survivors include his son, William (April Blaine) Lozner; daughter, Debbie Manley; brother, Frank Lozner; sister, Ruby Jones; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy M. Lozner; brothers, John and Karl Lozner; and a sister, Ann Yeagley.
At the family’s request, a private committal service of his ashes will be held at a later date.
