Robert B. Shore, age 96, of W. Beech St., Jefferson, died early Wednesday morning, April 30, 2014, at Austinburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Sept. 13, 1917, in Warren, the son of John G. and Agnes (West) Shore and had lived in this area all of his life. He was a 1935 graduate of Austinburg High School and was the last living member of his class. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Pacific in World War II.

Mr. Shore worked 38 years at Reliance Electric, retiring in 1978. He was married to Evelyn J. (VerBerkmoes) Sanger on Jan. 17, 1981, at Amboy United Methodist Church.

Mr. Shore formerly attended the First Congregational United Church of Christ and the First Baptist Church. He was a 60 year member and past master of Tuscan Lodge #342 F. & A. M., was a 32nd degree Mason, Grand Lodge of Ohio, Scottish Rite Valley of Cleveland and the El Kadir Grotto where he also served as past master. He served as secretary for the Ashtabula Co. Fair Board for several years. He was a part-time mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and his hobbies included golf, boating, water skiing, fishing and bowling.

He is survived by three children, Patti J. Sperry of Madison, Ronald J. (Norma) Shore of Annandale, Va. and James E. (Judy) Shore of Memphis, Tenn.; step-son, William H. (Brenda) Sanger of Conneaut; seven grandchildren, Brandy Thomas, William “Joe” Sanger, Lisa A. (Grant) Weimer, Mark Sperry, Carrie (Matthew) Perzanowski, Jennifer (Christopher) Carlin and Lindsay (Justin) Hanson; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Close of Ashtabula; and two brothers, Raymond (Joyce) Shore of Jefferson and Richard Shore of Ashtabula.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Barbara (Rhodes) Shore in 1979; his second wife, Evelyn Sanger Shore in 2009; son-in-law, Steven L. Sperry; two brothers, Harlan and John “Jack” Shore; and four sisters, Kay Norris, Mary Eisenhart, Dorothy Jablonski and Vivian Maille.

Masonic Services being offered by Tuscan Lodge #342 F. & A. M. will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, at the Jefferson Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS AND CREMATORY, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with a Memorial Service immediately following with the Rev. Philip Kachersky, of First Baptist Church, officiating.
