NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Charles L. Straw, age 70, suddenly and unexpectedly passed away on Monday, April 7, 2014.
He was a native of Ashtabula, Ohio, and a resident of Virginia for 30 years.
Charles was a Cell Operator for Continental for 19 years. A Veteran, he retired from the U.S. Air Force as a MSGT after 20 years of service. He served in Vietnam and was a C130 mechanic who also flew on assignment with the Thunder Birds.
He was also a volunteer for the Wee Beasties Scottie Rescue.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles M. Straw; sister, Joyce Garner; and brother, James Straw.
Survivors include his wife, Martha (Marty) Straw; daughter, Kelly Renee Callahan and fiancé, David Barnes; son, Charles Derek Straw and wife, Meg Straw; mother, Betty Louise Straw; grandchildren, Andrew Nolan Callahan, Hunter Neely Callahan, Simon Ray Straw, and Irene Frances Straw.
Services were held at PENINSULA FUNERAL HOME, with burial in Peninsula Memorial Park with Full Air Force Honors.
